Working towards global goals

In 2015, the United Nations adopted 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), defining global sustainable development priorities and aspirations for 2030. This common set of 17 goals and 169 sub-targets calls for worldwide action among governments, business and civil society to end poverty, ensure prosperity for all, and protect the planet.

Our contribution

To identify the SDGs that are most relevant in relation to our activities, we followed an approach specified by the SDG Compass. The SDG Compass is a guide for business action developed by the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), the UN Global Compact and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD). Based on this assessment, we see there are areas in which we can contribute to all the SDGs, however we identified the following as most relevant in relation to our activities:

Goal 7 - Affordable and clean energy;
Goal 8 - Decent work and economic growth;
Goal 9 - Industry, innovation and infrastructure;
Goal 13 - Climate action;
Goal 14 - Life below water.
